Key Question
Thinking of effective leadership, how can companies help their employees efficiently implement project and change management on projects to achieve the project goals?
Solution
- I provided change management leadership for the project, guiding the change manager in developing the tools and process to effectively implement the change.
- I provided mentoring and support to the project manager, helping him develop the new skills and competencies required for the role.
- Working closely with the project and change managers, I helped them align the change and project objectives for the project, ensuring that both the project and change tasks received due attention.
Situation
In 2017, a leading forestry company launched a project to migrate to a new planning software.. In addition to designing and implementing the program so that it met the business needs, one of the goals was to ensure that the transition from the old software to the new software was as efficient and productive for employees as possible. To be successful, the project needed to effectively address both the project and change management elements of the work. The project and change managers were new to their roles, and required coaching and guidance to effectively carry out project and change management to meet the project goals.

Testimonial
I had the pleasure of working with Kris for over a year on collaborative projects under the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement (CBFA). Kris is able to manage complex science programs and collaborative planning approaches proficiently and professionally. Her organization and attention to detail provide the structure that allows a project team to focus on the technical and operational components in moving projects to completion. This was demonstrated clearly when Kris coordinated the CBFA Science Committee, giving the Science Committee members more time and attention to focus on the specific document review and recommendations. Kris provides effective leadership.
