Kris McCleary Certified Management Consultant (CMC), Project Management Professional (PMP) and Associate Certified Coach (ACC)
I began my career as a scientist, and realized mid career that the work was fundamentally about leading people, teams and projects. Indeed, I realized that this was the work I most enjoyed, so when I had an opportunity to advance my education after leaving my role as a Science Manager for Parks Canada, I pursued training in Project Management and acquired my Project Management Professional (PMP) credential. When I left Parks Canada, I also began my journey as an “accidental entrepreneur”, as people in my network reached out to me and asked me to lead projects for them. As I worked with clients on projects, I realized that most organizations need to define the direction they’d like to take the organization in (strategy and vision), and get people and teams involved to reach their goals (change and transformation). As I continued to work with clients, I also realized that I could have the biggest impact by partnering with my clients to help them determine where to go, and how best to lead themselves and their teams to the desired future. This led me to complete professional training in Executive and Team coaching at Royal Roads University and seek my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential.
My experience leading people, teams and projects means that I understand the challenges my clients face because I’ve walked in their shoes. I use my skills in coaching, strategic planning, change management and project management to create customized solutions to help my clients move forward, in a way that honours and considers the unique circumstances of their situation.
When not working, I volunteer my time with a few of the organizations that were instrumental in my success- The Forum and WeBC. Through this work I help women entrepreneurs grow themselves and their businesses and improve their communication skills to be seen as the leaders they are.
Another passion is sharing my expertise and hard won insights from the school of hard knocks with students at Thompson Rivers University, where I teach in the MBA program.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time hiking, biking and skiing with my husband and 3 teenaged daughters in the Interior of BC.
